Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Benjamin Conklin ("we," "us," or "The Friction Force") handles information in connection with the Guardrail Mode mobile application ("the App"). We have built the App to be private by design. The short version: your data stays on your device, and we do not track you.

1. The Short Version

Guardrail Mode stores your data on your device. Your sessions, settings, capital figures, loss logs, history, and the list of apps and websites you choose to contain are kept locally on your iPhone. We do not have a server that collects, stores, or transmits this information to us.

We do not sell your data. We do not show ads. We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs. We do not build advertising profiles.

2. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The App functions by storing the following information locally on your device. This information is not transmitted to us:

Session data: declared session durations, capital allocations, deposit limits, and stop conditions you set.
Activity you log: losses you record, deposits you request, drift events, and session history.
Structure settings: your daily session caps, delays, cooldown periods, and escalation triggers.
Containment selections: the apps, app categories, and website domains you choose to restrict.

All capital and loss figures are values you manually enter. The App does not connect to your bank, brokerage, sportsbook, or any financial account, and it cannot read your balances or transactions.

3. Screen Time & Family Controls

The App uses Apple's Family Controls and Screen Time frameworks to restrict access to the apps and websites you select. This is core to how the App works.

When you choose apps or websites to contain, Apple provides the App with opaque tokens that represent your selections. We cannot see which specific apps or sites these tokens refer to — the underlying identities never leave your device and are not visible to us. The App uses these tokens only to apply and remove restrictions on your own device. We do not collect or transmit your Screen Time data.

The App requests Screen Time authorization for individual (self) use. It is a tool for restricting your own device by your own choice. It is not a parental control product and is not used to monitor any other person.

4. Subscriptions

Subscriptions to Guardrail Mode are processed by Apple through the App Store and managed using RevenueCat, our subscription management provider. When you start a free trial or purchase a subscription:

Apple handles all payment processing. We never receive or store your payment card details. Apple's handling of your information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
RevenueCat receives an anonymous app-generated user identifier and your subscription status in order to manage entitlements, restore purchases, and tell the App whether your subscription is active. We also attach a non-identifying label indicating which version of our subscription screen you saw, so we can understand which design works better. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, or the contents of your sessions. RevenueCat's handling of information is governed by RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

5. Notifications

With your permission, the App sends local notifications (for example, a warning when your session is nearly over). These are scheduled and delivered on your device. We do not operate a push server and do not send remote notifications.

6. What We Do Not Collect

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or location.
We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
We do not track you across other apps or websites.
We do not create or share advertising profiles.

7. Children

The App is intended for adults and is rated accordingly. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. The App involves subject matter (gambling and trading discipline) that is not appropriate for minors.

8. Your Control Over Your Data

Because your data is stored locally, you control it directly:

You can erase all session data, settings, and history at any time using Reset All Data in the App's Settings.
Deleting the App from your device removes its locally stored data.
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID subscription settings.
You can revoke Screen Time access at any time in your device's Settings.

9. Security

Because the App stores data locally and does not transmit it to us, your information benefits from the security of your own device, including the device passcode and encryption provided by iOS. No method of storage is perfectly secure, but we have minimized risk by not collecting your data in the first place.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected in the App or on our website. Your continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
